Royal Canin Veterinary Diet ® Canine Hydrolyzed Protein Adult HP dry dog food is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 579.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifesaver for our cocker A little over a year ago our female cocker, then about 9 years old, looked like she was circling the drain. She was voraciously hungry, eating every bug she could get in her mouth as well as her regular food. Soon after eating she would vomit it all back up. She also had diarrhea intermittently. She was losing weight and we were worried so we took her to our great vet, Dr. Drake. Lucky for us she had recently attended a seminar on food allergies in dogs and prescribed Royal Canin adult HP. Brandy is now back up to her proper weight and is a happy, healthy cocker. She also seems to prefer peaches to grasshoppers. We couldn't be more pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved Our Dog! We got this food as a gift from a friend after we told him about the horrible reaction our dog was having from the food he had been eating. I explained to him that had tried every food imaginable, including raw meats, exotic meats, you name it. We came to the conclusion that he is allergic to protein. He gave us the food since he couldn't use it and it was like a miracle! The large welts under his front legs that he scratched incessantly cleared completely. The redness around his eyes and mouth went away and his overall general health improved. I fully believe that this food vastly improved his quality of life and added years to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect food for my dog with food allergies! I have been purchasing this food for the past 2 years and my dogs love it! When I first brought home my yorkie puppy he had diarrhea daily. We ran numerous fecal tests, blood work, and other diagnostic tests to try to determine the cause. One of his veterinarians suggested a food trial with RC HP. Immediately after switching diets, my puppy's gastrointestinal issues resolved. It is a fantastic product. I have tried other hypoallergenic diets, but Royal Canin is the only company that has a hydrolyzed protein diet and any other protein causes my dog's issues to return. I would recommend this diet and all of Royal Canins prescription diets to other pet owners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life Saver My Yorkie had stomach problems for 6 yrs and we took her to Vets three different specialist and put her through so many test with no real findings but finally one more specialist and in less than 10 minutes he said it was mostly likely had a protein intolerance. He put her on Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein Adult HP dry dog food and for the last two years she is doing GREAT. How sad she had to suffer for so long. We are so Grateful for Royal Canin food. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dogs love it! I have two Treeing Walker Coonhounds that I rescued just over a year ago. One has autoimmune issues, the other was my "healthy" one. That is, until she (Montana) developed severe food allergies recently. Because of Wyoming's autoimmune issues, my veterinarian felt that I needed to put both dogs on a hydrolyzed protein diet. I literally started them this morning and they devoured their food! Both loved it. I use both wet and dry versions for them. I am very optimistic this food will be the best thing for them after over a year of finding a food that both could eat without any issues!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog is back to her normal self, WORTH EVERY $$$ I can't thank Royal Canin enough. My mini aussie suffered from serious allergy problems and I have tried every dog food on the market. She was getting Cytopoint shots every couple of weeks to keep her comfortable. She would itch herself to the point of sores, which would then become infected and require antibiotics. Many, many vet visits and thousands of dollars later, we tried this and I can say that my girl is back to normal, and doesn't need Cytopoint shots anymore either! She has more energy, is happier and her coat and skin looks amazing. This dog food actually saves me money in vet bills, and most importantly, gives my best friend quality of life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a really great food for my dog with IBD I have been on other Royal Canin foods, but we switched to Hyrdolyzed Protein when my dog became intolerant of the PW. My vet highly recommended it and my dog loves it. Her coat is healthy and shiny, and her weight is easily managed. I've had no issues with her IBD flare-ups since being on it and am excited to see how long she can tolerate this food, hopefully indefinitely, with the science behind the creation of the hydrolyzed protein for dogs with stomach issues. Allergies to protein are a tough one to get a handle on, but Royal Canin has been amazing for my dog. Highly recommend it!
