Product Reviews
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet ® Canine Selected Protein Adult PR canned dog food 13.6 oz - Loaf in Gel (24 cans/case) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Out of stock I am so disappointed that Royal Canin has been unable to make this food available. After months of trying almost every food on the market, my dog was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease and the only protein she has been able to tolerate is rabbit. This is the only food she has been eating for about 3 years and now we are down to our last couple cans. I don't know what I'm going to feed her now. Without this food we will be going back to vomiting and diarrhea and her not eating because it is simply too painful for her. I hope this food is available soon because I don't want to see my baby suffer again. (I would have otherwise given this food 5 stars)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great product, unbelievably bad availability I switched my girl to this food in January 2017 and she has done extremely well. The food is obviously great - however as I've seen so many others report, it's out of stock, AGAIN! It's difficult to switch any dogs food as you all probably know, but a dog with compromised systems and other medical issues, it's close to devastating. I cannot subject my 11.5 year old girl to this ever again and have found alternate sources of a good rabbit based food (very expensive) and am working with my vet. I will never recommend this or any other Royal Canin product because of this issue. Very sorry but you've lost this customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT Product! Poor Distribution & Availability! This product has helped to resolve 4 yrs of constant problems with my Beagle. She has lost weight (a great side effect) and her allergies have cleared. I could NOT give the product 5 stars only because of the off-and-on availability of this food. I have NEVER seen a product where it is "OUT-of-STOCK" whether online or in-store. Royal Canin definitely must do something. I recommend to ANY owner or breeder, if you are going to use this product be prepared for LONG (2-3) weeks delays in receipt of order. This will make the SECOND time e.g. (2 out of 2 orders) that I will need to find an alternate source to fill in the gap. My dog will once again suffer with infections and itching until I can acquire the product again,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've had three English Bulldogs and the University of Illinois recommended this for the first one. She had allergies & skin issues and was a bit overweight. She did wonderful she lost 13 lbs she was a little bulldog only 36lbs after her weight loss, we had her for 10 wonderful years. Then we got 2 more they are sisters. So I've fed it to them when they became Adults . And also when the big poisoning of all the other dog foods & people losing their dogs because of the bad food. We didn't have to worry about that with Royal Cainin!!!!!!!! I have a grooming shop so I see a lot of skin issues, so I always tell my customers of my experience with Royal Cainin!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the food! Not the lack of availability! The food has been great for our dog, however, again we are not able to get the can dog food. I was told there is a Raw Material Shortage from overseas. This is becoming a regular problem for us pet owners. I would think the company would be working on an alternative plan to produce the food? As you know it is not easy to switch a dog from one pet food to another. If you can not produce it please do not advertise it and have the vets prescribe the food. Stressful not only to the dog but the pet owners!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from food works wonders when it is available This food was the only food my dog could eat without intense stomach issues. Unfortunately it was out of stock for about a week earlier this year which was a huge issue. After that I began stockpiling this wet food in case something like that happened again and it did. Now this food has been unavailable for over a month and I ran out of the stocked food I had. Switching a dog's food is never easy and way worse when they already have stomach issues. I had to try two different brands of food before settling for something that only mildly irritates my dog's stomach and costs more. I really didn't want to have to change brands of dog food but the stress of this brand running out is very cumbersome for my dog and me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from OUT OF STOCK This is the only canned food that doesn't give my dog bloody diarrhea. She will not eat the dry version even if I water it down. Per my vet's recommendation, I tried the venison prescription version, same problem, bloody diarrhea. Use domestic rabbits, for the love of all things holy. If I find a comparable substitute, I will not be back. This is ridiculous.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Out of Stock Royal Canin should know better that it's not easy to transit from one food to other for dogs. The shortage of raw materials may mean that this food will not be available for a while. If it wasn't this issue, the food it self is excellent.
