Product Reviews
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet ® Feline Gastrointestinal High Energy dry cat food 8.8 lb bag is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 78.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing food... Saved my kitty life. This food is amazing. It is great for cat or kitten with chronic or acute diarrhea. My now 4 year old Manx cat was born with intestinal issues and had trouble digesting food. At 2 1/2 months old he had diarrhea constantly from eating any type of kitten food and from kitten milk formula. So at 3 months old he was placed on the food and within 2 weeks his stool was completely normal. He was having no digestive problem what so ever!! I work at an animal hospital and since his problem started I have taken the Royal Canin training online (for hospitals) to learn all about the food they have. I now know a lot on the food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for kitties with stomach issues I adopted my first kitten (now 8 months old!) a few months ago and no matter what food she was on she had issues. She'd have bad gas, really stinky poops and threw up a lot. She has some other health issues we're working through but she started throwing up more frequently. She was on multiple high quality foods before my vet recommended this one! She loves it! In fact, my roommates cat tries to steal it from her! The only downside is that it's extremely pricey. But my kitten has not thrown up since the switch (and my vet even recommended a fast switch because she was on a antispasmodic). As an added bonus, her litter box doesn't smell nearly as bad! So I'm keeping her on this brand for the rest of her life :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent source of Nutrition ! Kitties love it~~ I rescued two kittens nearly two years ago, brothers, they weighed in at 2.5 pounds and 3.5 pounds..At 2.5 pounds this kitty wasn't thriving and the rescue felt he may do better at home so I got to take them home with me. They were prenamed Allie and Barley, and were almost 2.5 months when I got them. After visiting our Vet, he put them on this food - they have never had stomach issues, their health has been wonderful and I attribute this to a good balance of this nutritious dry and variety of wet foods.. My vet says the dry food is the most important for their nutrition and health and that wet is very important for gaining additional water, but not for the nutrients.. My babies now 2.5 years old are a healthy 19 and 21 pounds and they are in great health. They love the smell of the food every time I open the bag they come running. I think it amazing that in 2.5 years, they never tire of this! this speaks volumes to me when it comes to finicky kitties. So good job Royal Canin!! Thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love all the Royal Canin products! I recently switched from RC Urinary SO Fel to the GI diet due to some issues my older Himalayan was having. She had been on meds for vomiting and diarrhea for some time and was better, but not 100%. Within a week of putting her on this food she was gaining weight and having normal bowel movements. And the vomiting was gone! She has now been on the diet about 5 months and we have no more problems, except an occasional vomiting incidence (normal for her since she grooms a lot and has done this since a very young age). I am very pleased with all the Royal Canin products I have used from the kitten food, Persian diet, Urinary SO, and now the GI diet. Thank you RC for all of your wonderful products for my pets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Resolved Long Term Issues A few years ago after a severe bowel blockage, a few harrowing days at the vet, and several hundred dollars later, I learned that my kitty can't tolerate most cat foods out there...even the high quality ones. But two years later between mostly wet food and free feeding on this throughout the day, she's a new cat. Soft, healthy coat, no straining in the litter box, regular movements, and almost zero vomiting. This food saved her life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Cats with IBS One of the cats (Hayden) has horrible IBS. It took forever to find a food that would give him some kind of real stool. Poor guy was miserable, he would cry while and after going potty. His butt was raw from diarrhea all the time. He was miserable!! Well I tried Royal Canin Gastrointestinal High Energy and after being on it for three months he finally had some sort of form to his stool. This has worked miracles. He's been on it for well over a year and his coat is softer, his personality is better, and he no longer cries in pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy on the tummy! Morris and Hope started this diet several months ago after having issues with vomiting. They have done extremely well since starting. They love the taste of it and I love the response that we've seen since switching.
