Benefits

Struvite Dissolution
Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths.

Urine Dilution
Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals.

Low RSS
Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis.

Controlled Magnesium
Reduced level of magnesium, a natural component of struvite stones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life saver I've been a cat owner my entire life. My family always had cats. Growing up we lost several male cats to struvite stones. My current cat had a bout with them and I was terrified I'd lose him. My vet suggested Royal Canin Urinary SO wet canned food for him. He's 15 years old and has never had another issue with the often fatal stones. My poor baby has used up quite a few of his nine lives over the past years but thanks to this food one of them was saved. It is expensive as most prescription food is that is true but it has saved money in the long run, no vet bills and more importantly it has prolonged his time with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Culinary Cat Kitchen Kudos! I've been using Royal Canin's Urinary SO in gel wet Cat Food for my 12yo make tabby for 7 years now. It has saved his life. When I turned 5 years, he experienced a typical but very painful case of urinary infection as he was eating dry cat food. My Vet put him on anti B's, some pain med's and suggested that he go on a wet food diet as male tabbies are prone to urinary issues. My Vet explained the range of severity that urinary infections can wage on cats and the expense that comes with it. The Royal Canin Urinary SO in Gel saved my cats like. He instantaneously took to eating it and the added moisture and nutrients balanced his PH levels and has never been back to the Vet since. Except for normal check ups of course. He's a happy, healthy 12 year old cat, which happens to be my best buddy. Thank you Royal Canin for making a product that is Truely a life saver!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Has done the trick for over 3 years This product has kept my cat from developing stones in the urinary tract and that is what it is supposed to do. It's expensive, but it works. I use the wet food in combination with the dry food 2x/daily each. I do wish they would improve the "zip lock" on the dry food bag as it is very slim and skimpy and doesn't hold for the life of the bag of food. I believe Royal Canin cares about the quality of their foods, and keeping the food bag closed maintains the quality. For the cost, I think they could put on a thicker, better functioning zip closure. I'd only recommend this to a friend if they had the same health issues as my cat due to cost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 4 cats won't eat the loaf One guy, a Meezer-blend rescue has oxalate crystals in bladder, going for surgery soon. Vet gave me SO loaf cans but not one will eat this...the sick one ate a few bites and walked away, despite being obviously hungry. However, they do like the crunchies version...but that does not provide fluid, and if everyone does not drink enough it would be disastrous...very anxious! Plan to try the gravy version...they all like gravy-food, with chicken or turkey as the main ingredient. The loaf has pork, I believe, as higher amount...and fish is in there...my guys don't like fish! Sick one is 5 yo, as are the 2 girls, and one chubbo is 10 years old...even he only barely touched the loaf food and wanted to bury it...and we all know what that means. ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Cats Love Royal Canin! My previous 2 cats ate Science Diet, but over the years I have become less satisfied with the quality of their products. So, when we took in our 2 new strays Pumpkin 1 year old and Shadow 4 years old Shadow was tested with some crystal issues in his urine. So, the vet suggested Royal Canin Feline Urinary SO canned and crunchies. He loved it! So we asked if it would be o.k to feed it to Pumpkin who is now 2 years old and we were told o.k. and she thinks it is great! Shadow just had his exam and crystal problem is all gone now that he gets good food. The 2 of our long hair furbabies lineup and sing on the food mat (see picture) and sing a song for their Royal Canin. Thanks for a wonderful product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! One of our male cats had several very painful bouts with struvite crystals. Giving him the pills was very traumatic for him and for me. After the last attack our vet suggested the Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Urinary SO. I was skeptical at first and not pleased with the high price or the inconvenience of having to purchase the food at the vet's but it's been 6 years and no signs of crystals! No emergency trips to the vet or having to force pills into a cat's pointy mouth! Both cats are on the same diet and both are very happy and healthy! (they eat both the dry and the canned)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speaks for itself! I adopted my tuxedo cat Weeble 12 years ago when he was only about 4 weeks old. After about 2 weeks he started urinating inappropriately and became sick. I work at VCA Delaware Valley and brought him in for a physical and found out he had struvites and needed surgery. Needless to say he has been eating Urinary S/O canned food ever since, except about a year ago I had switched food for some reason I don't remember at this time but, learned my lesson and will NEVER do that again because he developed problems, again. Long story short he is eating his RC urinary S/O again and I will never switch to anything else!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in All Areas.... My cat has been on this as well as the dry version since being diagnosed with the urinary issues. He has not had another UTI since being on this food in 2 years. He has never gotten bored of the flavor either. My other two cats eat a non-prescription Royal Canin food as well and they have never had issues with it being palatable either, and they are all very picky about food. I am very pleased with this food and brand. I definitely trust it for my pets now and would choose the brand for any future pets as well.
