Product Information
Benefits

Struvite Dissolution
Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths.

Urine Dilution
Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals.

Low RSS
Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis.

Controlled Magnesium
Reduced level of magnesium, a natural component of struvite stones.

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet ® Feline Urinary SO ® dry cat food is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 976.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the Job My cat, Reggies suffers from recurring urinary track infections, so I must keep him on the Urinary SO. As he has been very finicky in the past with his food, I was pleased to see that he enjoys the dry, as well as the moist, which I give to him at dinner time.....and whic he waits for anxiously!!! A real surprise to me....but I'm quite pleased. The only problem is that the food is quite pricey and I wish that Royal Canin would offer monthly coupons like Earthborn does for my dog's food. I get an email each month from them with a coupon for $3.00 off the purchase of his food. Royal Canin should consider offering the same to its customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy we switched! Our cat who is 14 yrs old has been on the SO urinary tract food for years, over the past few month she started vomiting it up daily. After looking up reviews online, I read many others having the same issue. It seems to be due to the company changing the ingredients. I took her to the vet asking if she could recommend or prescribe anything else. She told us about Royal Canine urinary food that was newly available by prescription. Audrie has been on it for 6 months now, no throwing up, no urinary infections and it cheaper!!! It did take her about a week to welcome the change of the taste but she now Loves it and I couldn't be happier..her too!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feeding Feline Urinary S/O dry for 12 Years In 2003 my two year old male Himalayan kitty had a urinary track infection and the Vet put him on the Feline Urinary S/O dry cat food diet. I had 2 other Himalayan kitties at the time, both a year old. All 3 have been on this same diet for 12 years. Every year we go to the vet for our check-up, not only are they perfect weight, they have perfect teeth as well. None have had any health problems nor any urinary track problems at all. They are inside/outside cats, they come and go as they please. At 13 and 14 years of age, they are still very playful. I attribute their overall good health to a good diet, regular Vet check-ups, and grooming.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better than Hill's I've had my three cats on this (in addition to other foods) for the e past few years because our girl had a couple of urinary tract infections. It is definitely more palatable to them than Hill's prescription diets and seems better quality, but for some reason they prefer the moderate calorie version...and over that, they prefer regular type dry foods (non-prescription type). I'm not a fan of the ingredients in this food, but it does make them drink more water, which is helpful for preventing urinary infections. Of course high quality wet food is the best for feline health, but it's a hassle to deal with so I do use dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 8 years and still loving it. My 9 year old cat was diagnosed with urinary crystals when he was a little over a1 year old. He was placed on S/O dry diet and has been doing well ever since. I like the dry due to it's convience. My only complaint ( not really complaining) is that his stool is hard, and he is overweight. If I fed him what you recommend, then he would weight twice as much as he does now. If I have to give him the can version for whatever reason, he doesn't have this problem. I have had tried him on other perscription urinary diets, due to price, but he ends up with crystals in his bladder. So I have opted to keep him on S/O. He loves it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied Felines! I have five cats and when one of my cats, Simon, had a recurring UTI my vet recommended the Feline Urinary S/0 dry cat food. He has never eaten wet cat food, not because I haven't tried it, but because he dislikes it. I was worried he would not like it, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how much he enjoys it. He is not allowed to eat any other dry food because of his condition and thankfully this has him completely satisfied, my other cats love it as well! Thank-you for keeping Simon healthy. Not only is he free of UTI's, but he has also lost quite a bit of weight which he needed to do. Vicki Keehner

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My cats like it, but it's expensive food! Pros: - Both of my cats will eat it so I only need to purchase one kind of food. - Keeps my cats from having serious urinary problems, including kidney stones. Cons: - Super expensive! A 17lb bag costs around $60, and with feeding 2 large cats, a single bag will last me about 3 weeks. - High in calories. Both of my cats have gained weight since switching to this cat food, and one of them is having a hard time avoiding being overweight. It is really difficult to help my cats stay at a healthy weight while they are eating this food. - This food is only available by prescription from my cats' vet, so I can't price shop around to find a cheaper price.
