we recipe is horrible

I agree with the other reviews for the new recipe. My dog has been on RCVD low-fat GI for over 5 years. He was thriving on the old formula. Diarrhea, vomiting with weight loss on this formula. Please don’t ask me to message you. I did on twitter (X) and received just a sorry you’re dogs not doing well.

New formula is awful

Once upon a time (like a month ago), I would have given this food 5 stars, but the recent change in formula is a no for me (and more importantly, my dog). I’m glad I came here to check because I thought I had gotten a batch of food that went bad or was left out in the heat or something. The consistency was so wet and mushy; nothing like it used to be where it was soft yet firm and you would have to dig it out of the can. My dog ate it fine for a few days, but his poop has been unusual since eating it - very wet with blood in it. Luckily, I found some cans of the old formula at his vet’s office and threw out the other stuff. Hopefully what I found will hold us over while I try to switch him to something else. Such a disappointment as my dog has been eating this food for about 4 years now. He was getting super sick on other foods and this was the only thing I’d found that he consistently liked and made him feel good. Why why whyyyy did the formula change??

It causes my dog having diarrhea

I realized the last two orders that I purchased are much more watery than before. I used to have to dig the food out from the can before vs now the food content becomes soft and mushy. I dont know what have changed with the formula, but it causes my dog having diarrhea now!!!!! It took my dog over a week to recover!!!

Formula changes causing diarrhea and vomiting

Dogs have been on this food for 5 years. New formula changes are causing diarrhea and vomiting in both of our dogs. After $400 in vet bills, changing back to older can found in stores has temporarily fixed the issues. Changing foods to another company that isn't getting dogs sick.

Extremely disappointed with new formula

Extremely disappointed at changes! I agree with the post from yesterday about this products new formula. We have been feeding our dog this food for more than 2 years due to his pancreatitis issues, and GI issues that made us think we were going to lose him. Once we started using this food he stabilized and he was happy again. He liked the food the way it was. The change in the loaf food recently makes him not want to eat it. The consistency is different in the new formula. I am going to ask the vet about a different brand so he might continue to eat. I spent the better part of the day trying to find pet stores that carry this brand to try and find some old stock. I found 24 cans that will at least last a while. I hope it will be enough time to find a food that he will eat and not make him sick. Can someone tell me why the change was made? Especially without telling anyone! Is there any changes planed for the dry food version of this food?

My Charlie loves it

I recently purchased this for my Charlie he had mild pancreatitis and looks like we are on strict diet his vet recommended this now looks like we are gonna be feeding him this brand for now on but I can say he loves it I never have to force him to eat or tell him to eat cause he eats everything even licks the bowl . I’m just happy he is healthy now and at least he loves his food even if it kills my wallet. He is totally worth it

Vet approved, but might make your own for longterm

My 2 yr old Lab was suffering from intermittent diarrhea, making this very active pup underweight because he just couldn't get the nutrients in. Vet gave us samples of this "bland diet" favorite along with an Rx for antibiotics. I get good food for my fur babies even if it's a little more, but jeez Louise...he would need 4 cans a day at his weight. Yikes! Long story short...if your dog is having terrible tummy issues, this a good way to go to get everything calmed down. Think of the last time you were recovering from a stomach bug...chicken and rice sounded amazing, especially if someone else made it. Pizza or raw veg sounded terrible. To manage ongoing sensitive stomach in our furry friends, it's not hard to make a supplement to kibble of boiled, unseasoned chicken breast with plain rice and maybe canned unsweetened/ unspiced pumpkin puree (the Pepto of dogs).

Perfect for what my dog needs

Prescription from the vet, our dog was already eating Royal Canin. After tacking his stomach this food helps him take his medicine and is easy on his stomach.

My pup is healthier and loves it

My girl has had GI issues off and on since she was little, and more acutely over this winter. A couple of weeks ago she was diagnosed with pancreatitis, and the vet recommended switching to a permanent low fat diet. She can also be a fairly picky eater, even when she’s feeling well. While I’ll do anything to keep her healthy, I was bracing myself that she may not care for this dietary change. Gratefully, this hasn’t been the case! If she doesn’t finish a meal right away she still always finishes it… a welcome change from any previous diet we’ve tried! And while I understand some reviewers’ budgeting concerns and limitations, I was pleasantly surprised that it’s not much more expensive than the food we used to get. That’s not what I expected when my vet recommended a prescription diet. I don’t think I’ve written such a glowing review of any product before, but I’m just so grateful to see my gorl feeling so much better.
