Used to be good

I used to be very pleased with this food and would have rated it 5 stars several months ago, however, the formula changed recently and now it's not so great. My dog has been on this food for over 5 years due to upset stomach and GI issues and has always done well on it, this was our and his veterinarian’s food of choice. Recently, some cases have been super soft, wet, and mushy; very different from how they were previously. While my dog still eats the food without complaint, now his stools are loose and very mushy, almost exactly the texture of the new formula. It’s almost diarrhea consistency without the actual diarrhea. Not to mention, loose stools cause gland issues, where they aren't expressed naturally while using the bathroom. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL FORMULA! It baffles me you would change a PRESCRIPTION food item without informing owners and veterinarians who rely upon this food to prevent GI upset and diarrhea.

New formula is terrible

My dog has been eating this food for over three years. She has severe IBD and it's the only food she can tolerate. But the formula has changed (batch best buy date is January 2026), the texture is now soft and mushy and she's been getting diarrhea again. I don't know what to do since every other food makes her sick. Why did they change a formula that was working so well?

New Formula is Terrible

The new formula is a swing and a miss. My dog doesn’t like it and so I will ask her vet for something different. This food is for dogs with health issues so I don’t understand changing the formula without notifying the buyers. I’m guessing it was to cut costs but I just couldn’t be more disappointed.

Formula change

Formula change has caused my dog to be sick. This is prescription dog food for a reason. It was good food till they made the change. Going have to check see what other dog food I can purchase now cause this is not working due to the formula change.

Reported to the FDA re: your low fat GI canned dog

For the last 6 months the low fat GI canned dog food has been a nightmare. Last October i sent you all an email how the shipment of a case of the dogfood was like a gluey paste. I sent pictures. No reply from anyone there at Royal Canin. Now 3 of the last 4 cases of the same low fat GI canned dog food have been so wet, mushy, gray in color that our chronically ill dog could only eat it if she was extremely hungry, in the morning. She was 9 pounds for years but has lost weight in the last few months from your product to the point her spine is very visible. I see from your website and Chewy website customers are complaining. The cost of this product is such that it should be perfect, every time but instead i never know what i'll get and dread every shipment. Luckily Chewy, where i send for the product, has been helpful and will send replacements ,at least they did, not sure they will anymore. So after these past 6 months of stress trying to feed our senior dog i had enough and will be trying a replacement....and yesterday i made a detailed report to the FDA. You should have better quality control after all the years you've been in business.

we recipe is horrible

I agree with the other reviews for the new recipe. My dog has been on RCVD low-fat GI for over 5 years. He was thriving on the old formula. Diarrhea, vomiting with weight loss on this formula. Please don’t ask me to message you. I did on twitter (X) and received just a sorry you’re dogs not doing well.

New formula is awful

Once upon a time (like a month ago), I would have given this food 5 stars, but the recent change in formula is a no for me (and more importantly, my dog). I’m glad I came here to check because I thought I had gotten a batch of food that went bad or was left out in the heat or something. The consistency was so wet and mushy; nothing like it used to be where it was soft yet firm and you would have to dig it out of the can. My dog ate it fine for a few days, but his poop has been unusual since eating it - very wet with blood in it. Luckily, I found some cans of the old formula at his vet’s office and threw out the other stuff. Hopefully what I found will hold us over while I try to switch him to something else. Such a disappointment as my dog has been eating this food for about 4 years now. He was getting super sick on other foods and this was the only thing I’d found that he consistently liked and made him feel good. Why why whyyyy did the formula change??

It causes my dog having diarrhea

I realized the last two orders that I purchased are much more watery than before. I used to have to dig the food out from the can before vs now the food content becomes soft and mushy. I dont know what have changed with the formula, but it causes my dog having diarrhea now!!!!! It took my dog over a week to recover!!!
