Benefits: Hydrolysed protein / Skin barrier / EPA/DHA  / Digestive health / S/O Index ROYAL CANIN® Hypoallergenic is specifically formulated to help support adult cats with nutritional intolerances, allergies, or dermatological sensitivities. This formula contains hydrolysed protein with low molecular weight to ensure a highly digestible hypoallergenic diet, ultimately encouraging easier protein absorption and reducing the risk of an allergic reaction. Thanks to a combination of supportive nutrients, this formula also helps to support the natural protective barrier role of your cat’s skin. This diet contains EPA and DHA – fatty acids that help to support and maintain your cat’s digestive system and skin health. Additional nutrients are also included to further support a good intestinal balance for optimal digestive health. This diet also promotes a urinary environment unfavourable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate stones. As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Range, it is important that this product is only given to your pet when recommended by a veterinary professional. Transitioning your pet from one diet to another should be a smooth and gradual process over a 7–10-day period. Please ensure you follow the correct rationing amount.

Saved my kitty

I adopted a cat full of open sores that the vet couldn’t fix. She was on antibiotics and creams. Turns out she was allergic to regular cat food and scratching open her skin. This food changed her life! She’s no longer in pain, she’s living happy and healthy. Just wish it was a little less expensive!

New Formula Not Working (Vomiting / Diarrhea)

My male cat has been on a vet prescribed diet of Royal Canin HP for years. With this last bag I picked up the cat has been vomiting and litter box output is very runny. Nothing else has changed. I smelled the bag today and it smells very strongly of a vitamin smell, which I don't recall with the previous bags. I'm changing out his food until I can get in to see his vet.

Protein rash is back!

My cat is allergic to protein. She ate this for year's. The last three bags has left her with rashes. I asked the vet if they switched the formula. I was told no. Today, I'm researching renal food for my other girl. So, I decided to research Sunami's food, read all this crap and oh my goodness....we were about to book her in to the vets for blood work, as we could not figure out the rash problem. The rash is only present when she gets protein in her system. I emailed RC months ago regarding their negligence- they left my city and surrounding towns dry of this food. RC did not respond. Typical. Reading all this just infuriates me. All these formula changes RC does. I think I'm better off to check out Hills or even Purinas Vet line.

Please go back to original formula.

My cat used to love this food, but ever since we opened the most recent bags after noticing the change of the bag and then noticed she has done a complete 180. Instead of running over to her bowl and eating her food, she now avoids it until she is hungry. We attempted adding warm water and she licks all the water off. I suspect it's due to the formulation change everyone else is mentioning. Something definitely changed, which is a shame given how limited the options already are for HP cat food. Like other cats, her issues with vomitting and her stool which had gotten better on this food is now worse. We will have to find something else.

Formula Change

We went through several RX foods and this one is the only one our cat could tolerate. Opened new bag and she will not eat it unless she is starving. Even then, she only eats a tiny bit. Very disappointing.

Formula change resulting in vomiting again

My boy has been working with the vet for the right mix of prescription food, food he could tolerate and food he liked to eat. Finally got the right combination then Royal Canin HP was out of stock most places and upon it's return, the formula had to have changed. I first noticed when scooping into the dish. The kibble seemed different - lighter? Less than 2 days after opening new bag, my boy started vomiting again daily. What changed and why, Royal Canin? Rating would be higher if formula wasn't changed for the worse.

Something changed...cats hate it now

My cats used to love this food, but ever since we opened the most recent bag they have done a complete 180. Instead of running over to their bowls and eating all their food in one sitting like they would before, they now avoid it until they're so hungry that they have to begrudgingly eat it. I suspect it's due to the formulation change everyone else is mentioning. Something definitely changed, which is a shame given how limited the options already are for HP cat food. We will have to find something else.

Will no longer eat

My cat was on this for a year—opened my latest bag nd he will no longer go near it! He’s pushing 20 pounds so fussiness is NOT an issue. Also had to stop feeding him the companion wet food as he vomited it up almost every time. Royal Canin what on earth did you do?!?

Skin allergies and GI symptoms came back

My cat has been eating this food for a year with success, but about a month to two months ago his skin allergies came back and his vomiting has increased again. I am seeing other comments around the same time as me having issues that the formula was changed and their cats started having issues again. Not sure why you changed the formula if it worked. It is already a really expensive product, why give the owners a headache.

Formula change!

Yup, they did it, a formula change. And with NO labeling of such, simply a new "modern" looking bag. I'm so disgusted that a PRESCRIPTION food can be tweaked without ANY indication. My cat immediately got sick. And yes, I DID compare ingredients on the old and new, and the ORDER has changed, aka, it's listed from most used to least used. Shame on you, not indicating the change.
