My dog hates this and won't touch it. Don't blame him...ingredients are disgusting and cheap. The price is ridiculous.

My dog loves this, he has no idea it is a special hepatic diet. I mix with the hepatic dry food.

Spock, my puppy, was diagnosed with liver shunt at 11 weeks old. He was nearly gone by that point and we were beside ourselves. The vet we took him to had seen shunt before, and did blood testing to confirm, then fed him this food. In 48 hours, we had a different puppy. He is now 14 weeks old. He went from 3.8 lbs at 11 weeks, to 7.2 pounds today. Spock has a long road ahead. On August 8, we take him for a CT scan to confirm the shunt diagnosis and locate it. Then, we determine whether surgery will be a successful plan. Regardless, Royal Canin food will be our go-to for his life. The first photo is of him, sick, not asleep, on the vet table when we nearly lost him. Two days earlier he had been fine - launched himself into the pool, played hard, etc. - the next day he started downhill, refused to eat and slept all day. We thought he'd played too hard the day before; the next day he ate well but then started acting drunk (the vet called this "star gazing" and said it is the #1 sign of shunt). The next day he was on the vet table - picture. The you-tube video was taken 2 days ago - 7 lbs. and a bundle of puppy energy! We use the dry food for his training treats (2 1/4c. training treats/day) and the wet for his 3 meals/day (1 can/day). Yes, this is ALOT of food. He is growing like a weed. This week was the first time we did not feel every rib, hip, and collar bone on his body. He actually has meat on him! Can someone give me a way to contact the inventor of this food to send him/her a thank you card? And a virtual hug! Also - if you can come up with tiny treat version of the dry for training, that would be awesome! Our training is limited to the number of pellets he can eat and not become obese. :-) (Note - Spock is a mini-goldendoodle. His mom is AKC Golden Retriever; his dad is AKC toy-poodle.

My dog was recently diagnose with an acute liver issue. My vet switched him to the Hepatic canned food and medicine in order to give his liver a chance to heal. The problem is, my dog HATES the food. He won't touch it. I have to blend it up and feed him with a syringe.

My dog got diagnosed with Liver disease and the options for diet are really limited. She is also quite old and does not have very many teeth left which also makes dry food not possible. We tired another brand and we nearly had to force feed her, it was so sad and we thought we ran out of options. Now we always get Royal Canin because she gobbles it up, and the price great for how many servings we get out of each can. Her energy and overal spirit is much improved. Thank you Royal Canin!!!

As noted by a previous reviewer our dog (Maltese Cross) was also diagnosed with a Liver Shunt after weeks of poor digestion/diarrhea and lethargy. Our Veterinarian recommend Royal Canin Brand Hepatic Diet as her 1st choice of products. She also provided a second brand in the event that our dog became finicky. Needless to say she during a 2 day taste test she preferred this product over the competitors version. Also the amount of food and caloric intake of this product is higher per oz vs the competitors brand, this saves $$$ over time which is very appreciated! We will be returning the other product to our vet and purchasing additional Royal Canin. We did discover that adding a slight bit of water and mixing to loosen the consistency as well as slightly warming the food just slightly has really helped her adjust to the change in foods. I was wondering if they made small treats for dogs on this program? That would be helpful for an occasional reward. Thank you for making such a high quality life saving diet for our dog :)

I have a 9 year old chihuahua that unfortunately developed liver issues. I needed to get my little man on a special diet to help him. I tried many different diets and he of course didn't care for any (chihuahuas tend to be a little picky anyway) until I got the Royal Canin Hepatic diet and he loves it!!! I'm so happy he likes it because his health really started to decline. I'm so very thankful for this diet. If it wasn't for it, I truly believe he wouldn't be with me today. I'm a huge Royal Canin fan!!! Thank you!!!

Cody has been on this food for 3 months. We use a mixture of canned and dry food for him. He loves them both. We've ordered six cases of the canned food (two per month). I've noticed from one month to the next that the moisture content in the cans varies greatly. The first two cases were so dry I almost didn't reorder. The next two cases were what I would expect from a canned food. The fourth and fifth cases were somewhere in between. In all the cases the food in the top of the can is drier than food on the bottom of the can. Just an observation.

My dog Lucky has copper storage disease. He was prescribed Hills Prescription diet which he ate for the first couple weeks. After about 2 weeks he would no longer eat it. I was panicked because I was told this was the only prescription diet available with low copper. I did a search on the internet and found your hepatic product. I was so excited to have another option! Not only is the can bigger than the Hills diet, my dog Lucky LOVES the flavor of both the wet and dry Hepatic food. He has been on it for over a month now and he still loves it! Your product saved my dog's life!

After trying another brand that my dog would't even touch, not only does he love Royal Canin Hepatic, but he thinks it's a treat! I put it in a Kong and he can't get enough!
