Nurturing a healthy ecosystem

Being a mutual company means creating value for our stakeholders to favor a healthy ecosystem that benefits everyone. Driven by our passion for cats and dogs’ health and well-being, we have developed long-term, meaningful relationships with pet professionals – including breeders and veterinarians –  to produce high-quality nutrition for cats and dogs and to support their daily activities through relevant tools and services. Moreover, we build strong and mutual relationships with our suppliers which helps us to address external social equity by strengthening ties with all communities in which we operate.

Sharing knowledge through our events and publications

Over the years, science, observation, and partnerships have allowed us to acquire knowledge that we share globally to support pet professionals’ daily activities and to help pet carers to understand and better care for cats and dogs.

As part of this, we have created various print publications including the Practical Guide to Dog Breeding, the Puppy and Kitten Guides, the Shelter Management Guide, Vet Focus magazine, and the Dog and Cat Encyclopaedias.

We also hold two annual, interactive events – the Royal Canin Vet Symposium
and the Royal Canin Pro Exchange Forum – respectively for the veterinary ecosystem and breeders.

They both gather renowned international experts who share their expertise and forward-thinking studies on the pet care industry – from nutrition to best practices in terms of management, human resources and responsible pet ownership.

Relationships with our suppliers

We give considerable attention to help ensuring positive social impact in our supply chain. Our long-standing relationships with partners and suppliers are key to help us reach our sustainability objectives. In North America, we work with our partners and suppliers to provide financial incentives to farmers as they implement regenerative agriculture practices. These partnerships aim to provide financial incentives to wheat, corn, and rice farmers in select regions of North America for implementing regenerative agriculture practices, contributing to scope 3 carbon reductions as part of the Mars Net Zero Roadmap.
