My cat was prescribed the Royal Canin SO moderate calorie both wet and dry . She would throw up occasionally after eating the canned . I thought it was her . Purchased elevated slow feeders , she would be ok for a week or 2 then immediately throw up after eating . I reduced the amount , gave her more dry , she was always hungry and looking for food , my vet said she had to stay on it due to one time having crystals when she was at the shelter . She then started to throw up the dry . I checked reviews on this food and apparently that is a common side effect and the quality of food and ingredients are not good . I refuse to give this to her . I found a better food , non prescription for urinary that she likes . It’s a shame you can’t put better ingredients in this especially for the price you charge

07 mars 2024Use the loaf as the morsel is high in calories.
It keeps our dog crystal free! He receives no other foods at all other than the dry food.
He was laden with surgery twice in 3 months before he was 100% free of any other foods!

I've been feeding this product to my dog for over six years. He suffered from calcium oxalate stones. I had tried Hills CD and he hated it. Come to find out it only had chicken byproducts and chicken flavor. I researched and found your product. It had actual chicken in it and not just chicken byproducts. I tried your food and he loved and has been eating it ever since. But I noticed shortly after covid he wasn't as eager to eat your product. I did a little research and found your product no longer had just chicken but now included chicken byproducts. He continued eat it so I didn't become to concerned. I found lately he really didn't eat your product well anymore so I looked up the ingredients and found you no longer have chicken in you product just chicken byproducts. Now your product is no longer better then your competition. I will no longer recommend your product over your competition. Your product has now become equal to and not better then your competition...

I am very sorry you feel that way. Misinformation about by-products in pet food is widespread, and has resulted in many misconceptions. The Association of American Feed Control (AAFCO) defines chicken by-products as the ground, clean parts of the chicken, which include internal organs, bone/cartilage and other parts. Royal Canin only uses high-quality by-products such as hearts, livers and lungs and when processed properly, by-products provide valuable nutrients for the pet. They are excellent sources of quality protein, vitamins and minerals and can help contribute to a balanced nutritional profile.
Using whole chicken includes, water fat and bone. It's only around 85% digestible. Chicken meal or chicken by-product meal is simply the meat with the water and fat removed so it's over 90% digestible. Ingredients are labeled in order according to the weight of that ingredient prior to cooking. Most starches will be heavier than the protein we use because the protein is typically hydrolyzed or dehydrated in to a powder form.

Lola the frenchy has issues with calcium oxalate stones and this food has proven to be extremely beneficial to her well being. She has had 2 surgeries for stone removal and since being on this food we have been able to manage her condition. She also loves the Urinary SO treats and loaf. Keep up the good work Royal Canin. We would be lost without this product.

After only being on the new formula for 1.5 months by Bichon Frise (9yrs) now has tear staining (never been an issue), a yellow muzzle (typically only an issue with food with dye in it), skin allergy issues and intermittent diarrhea. Giving it another week but probably going to start looking for a new food. The old formula never gave her these issues.

Most recent bag, with new image appears to have a formula change. Springer has been on this food for 2 years. Really helped with preventing crystals, but new formula is producing excessive gas that was not a problem with the old formula. PLEASE SWITCH BACK!!! Tilley can clear a room!

Like others who commented, my small breed dog was on the green label for 6 years with no issues. I purchased two bags of the brown label and ever since she has gas, loose stools, and gland issues.

Our dog, Roxy, was leaving very concentrated urine spots all over the house. I thought she may have a bladder infection but our vet found her urine was loaded with crystals. I can just imagine how painful it was for her to void with the sharp crystals hitting her bladder and urethral walls. He said we caught it before the crystals had time to form into a stone. He had us change her food to Royal Canin Urinary SO dry dog food.and add some water to it. She was better in days, without side effects, and has not had anymore crystals for 2 years. It is expensive but worth it. I save some money by using the Royal Canin autoship program.
