Our sensitive pit bull mix was on this food for 3 years. It was the only thing that worked for him, regulated his digestion, and gave him healthy, firm poops. A few months ago, I noticed that the consistency of the food changed, but I didn’t think anything of it until a few days into it when he started having diarrhea every day. I called to order a replacement batch because I figured something was wrong with the batch I got. When the replacement batch came, it was the same. He lasted another 2 weeks on the food, but when the diarrhea got so bad that we couldn’t leave the house because he would need to go out multiple times per day at a moment’s notice, we knew we had to switch. So incredibly heartbreaking to see our guy go from a happy, healthy pup to one that is depressed and uncomfortable!! And so disappointing to spend hundreds of dollars on vet bills just to find out that the thing harming him is his PRESCRIPTION FOOD! I expect better, Royal Canin.

My 7 year old has been on this formula for 6 years. It took us a year of her life to figure out her system couldn’t handle anything at all. Bloody stools and diarrhea! After 6 years of eating RC and no issues, we had zero interest in changing. We just opened new a can and it was completely different (mushy gross) and smells awful. Being so sensitive with her not getting anything but this food, no way was I going to just feed it to her to see what happened. I immediately turned to all the reviews here and on another site. With the issues most people are having and the addition of guar gum, I’m making a switch to another food. Not feeding this to her. It’s so horrible these companies don’t care about our babies. You can’t just change something for these that have such sensitive systems!!! You have lost a customer of 6 years and looks like losing more by the day. Shame

My Chihuahua Yorkie mix has been eating this for 3 or 4 years due to food allergies. The new recipe is like mush and she will no longer eat it. Now we need to scramble to figure out what else to feed her. Companies need to think about the impact this will have on the animals and their owners. Horrible horrible decision. We will look for another company that has something similar.

We were not informed on the new change and our schnauzer who has ate this food for years got very sick. SICK!!! We transitioned a little slower and now she is so bright red and biting herself after eating so we are at the vet again. I miss the old formula.

You changed the formula and I'm so upset and so is my dog. It made her sick. She used to love this product. Why did you change it? Now I have to search for something else. She has IBD.

I have used this food for years. I feel the reason my dog is alive is due to this food being easy to digest. For some reason the recipe has changed and my two dogs vomit when they eat it. I am very displeased and will not use it or recommend it to others.

This was our TOP food until NOW!!!! We have been using this food for 4 years. It was not until recently that the consistency of the food changed. This resulted in both of my dogs throwing up. I am so unhappy with this and will no longer be purchasing this food!! Looks like I am not the only one.

Have to write a review along with the many other families affected by this obvious quality reduction because I'm so incredibly disappointed with the change in this product. This is not just dog food, it is dog food specifically recommended by vets for dogs with digestive trouble. It is not cheap, but we paid for the quality and comfort of our beloved pet. However now the quality is the same consistency as the product: MUSH. We will move to a company that cares about their products and the impact it has on so many families lives.

My dog had been on this food for years without issue, but the new formula is absolutely terrible. I thought I received a bad batch because the consistency was so different from before, more gooey and sticky. My girl has been licking her paws and showing digestive upset again…it took YEARS to find food that didn’t trigger her issues, now it’s back to the drawing board.

This was great until they changed the formula. Our dog threw up 7 times and was shaking. We had to take her to urgent care. Should be illegal to change it without notice.
