Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs

ROYAL CANIN® and Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs have been proud partners since 2006. Seeing Eye Dogs provides expertly bred and trained Seeing Eye Dogs to people who are blind or have low vision across Australia, supporting them to lead active and independent lives.

Partners for nearly two decades

ROYAL CANIN® is the official provider of precise nutrition for every puppy and dog in the Seeing Eye Dogs training and breeding programs and has been feeding all the Seeing Eye Dogs in the program since 2006.

Over 60 years of expertise

Seeing Eye Dogs is the only national provider of dog guides in Australia and has been breeding and training Seeing Eye Dogs for nearly 65 years.

Every Seeing Eye Dog is a vital mobility aid for their handler, supporting them to safely and independently navigate their community – whether that be for work, education or any other reason.

Each year more than 200 puppies enter the Seeing Eye Dogs program and there is currently close to 250 fully-trained Seeing Eye Dogs working with their handlers across Australia.

Seeing Eye Dogs is a full member of the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) and was one of the first training schools in the world to meet their rigorous international accreditation standards.

Seeing Eye Dogs is also a full member and meet all the accreditation standards of Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

Help support the next incredible journey

It takes around two years and $50,000 to fully train a Seeing Eye Dog before it is ready to be matched with a handler. Your generosity can help train the next generation of Seeing Eye Dogs and change the life of someone who is blind or has low vision. You can help by donating now here.

Interested in puppy caring?

Puppy carers play a vital role in the training and development of life-changing Seeing Eye Dogs. Volunteer puppy carers open their hearts and homes to a puppy from the age of eight weeks, until they are ready for formal training to become a Seeing Eye Dog (around 12-15 months of age).
